Medication Adherence and Mobile Health Coaching in Hypertension Self Management: Trial Simulation

Hypertension remains one of the most pervasive chronic conditions globally, requiring rigorous self management and strict medication adherence to mitigate severe cardiovascular risks. Despite the proliferation of mobile health coaching applications designed to support patient behavior, empirical validation of their long term efficacy is frequently constrained by high attrition rates, significant costs, and complex longitudinal follow up requirements. This paper presents a comprehensive academic investigation into the efficacy of mobile health coaching for hypertension self management through the utilization of advanced clinical trial simulation. By constructing a synthetic patient cohort and modeling behavioral state transitions over a twelve month simulated period, this study evaluates the impact of automated, personalized coaching interventions on medication adherence trajectories. The simulation integrates demographic variables, baseline adherence levels, and technological literacy to create a highly realistic testing environment. Analytical results derived from the in silico trial demonstrate that adaptive mobile health coaching significantly improves optimal adherence states compared to standard care control models. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses indicate that the timing and personalization of digital interventions are critical determinants of sustained behavioral change. The findings provide critical theoretical and practical insights for digital health developers and healthcare providers, highlighting the value of trial simulation as a robust, cost effective precursor to traditional randomized controlled trials. This methodology not only accelerates the iterative design of digital therapeutics but also ensures safer, more tailored interventions for chronic disease management.References
